Tree of Lights helps raise over $10,000
More than 150 people celebrated the success of the Twigs’ 2017 Tree of Lights Campaign Sunday, Dec. 3, with the annual lighting of the tree which stands over Rome Memorial Hospital’s North James Street main entrance.
Every light on the tree has been placed through donations, either in honor or in memory of a loved one, or to express thanks.
This year’s campaign raised over $10,000 to help the Twigs, a not-for-profit organization, continue their long tradition of dedicated service in support of the hospital and its mission.
This year’s fundraising campaign was dedicated to Lauren Giustra, MD and Ankur Desai, MD in honor of their many years of devoted service to Rome Memorial Hospital and the community.
Following a short ceremony in their honor, the doctors flipped the switch to light the tree, a visible symbol of the season at the hospital since 1989.
The evening’s events also included the unveiling of the scroll which lists each of the individual donors and honorees, as well as refreshments provided by the Twigs. The 25 member committee, along with several departments of the hospital, was thanked for their fund-raising efforts. The Rome Twigs also thanked Varflex for underwriting the expenses of the Tree of Lights campaign.
The company donated $1,000 in memory of Dorothy Griffin and her countless years of support to Rome Memorial Hospital.
