Rome Hospital Foundation to honor Restivo at Annual Gala
Dr. John Restivo will be recognized as the 2018 Physician of the Year at Rome Hospital Foundation’s Annual Gala on Saturday, Nov. 10, at the Turning Stone Casino Resort.
“Dr. Restivo is a top quality physician and a leader, professionally and personally both in the community and in the healthcare setting. We are fortunate to have Dr. Restivo as part of our medical staff and benefit greatly from his leadership, said David Lundquist, president and CEO of Rome Memorial Hospital.
“On an evening when we celebrate compassionate, connected care in our community, it is a pleasure to honor Dr. Restivo as the 2018 Physician of the Year,” the hospital CEO added.
Restivo has been practicing medicine in the Central New York area for more than 20 years, hospital officials said. Board certified with the American College of Radiology, Restivo has been a practicing physician with Radiology Associates of New Hartford since 1997.
He holds an undergraduate degree from Boston University, where he completed the Six-Year Medical Program at Boston University School of Medicine.
After medical school, he completed his residency in Diagnostic Radiology at Tufts New England Medical Center in Boston, MA.
In addition to serving as the chairman of Rome Memorial Hospital’s Medical Imaging Department, he also serves as the vice president of the hospital’s Medical Executive Committee and is a member of the Rome Memorial Hospital Board of Trustees.
Restivo is also a member of the Performance Improvement Committee, the Ethics & Bylaws Committee and is the chairman of the Radiation Safety Committee at Rome Memorial Hospital.
“Restivo is a dedicated educator, serving in the role of Medical Advisor at the MVCC School of Radiology, Physician Assistant Clinical Instructor at the University of Albany and a member of faculty at the New York City Medicine College at Rome Memorial Hospital,” the foundation announcement said, adding that he also has served as a radiology course instructor at Hudson Valley Community College and a physician assistant clinical instructor at the University of Phoenix.
Restivo and Radiology Associates of New Hartford are long time supporters of Rome Hospital Foundation, the announcement said, adding that they have provided sponsorship support to the Annual Gala for the past 12 years. Restivo is also a member of the Dorothy Griffin Society, a group of the Rome Hospital Foundation’s most dedicated supporters.
“Dr. Restivo’s name is synonymous with community involvement,” said Brian Miller, president of Rome Hospital Foundation. “He has been directly and effectively involved with the community, and that includes his multiple years of support of Rome Hospital Foundation. We are honored to provide a platform at our Annual Gala for him to be honored in front of hundreds of supporters.”
In his spare time, Restivo has worked to grow and strengthen youth soccer programs in the community. He has served as a coach for the Rising Stars Soccer Club for the past 13 years.
Prior to his involvement with Rising Stars, he coached AYSO Soccer for eight years and currently serves as the Regional Commissioner of New Hartford AYSO, a position he has held since 2012.
Restivo and his wife, Sandy, have three daughters: Paige, Jordan and Sidney.
The Annual Gala, presented by Nunn’s Home Medical Equipment, and diamond sponsor, The Grand Healthcare, is Rome Hospital Foundation’s largest fundraising event annually. The black tie event attracts approximately 400 attendees and corporate sponsorship support of more than $100,000.
