Voters have until 9 tonight to go to the polls for primaries to choose their party’s candidates for the Nov. 7 general election.

It’s primary day in an off election year, which means there are relatively few contests around Oneida County. There are no countywide or state races. Only voters registered with a party can vote in that party’s primary.

The only primary in Rome is one to pick the Democratic candidate for the county Board of Legislators in District 12. The district comprises: Ward 3, Election District 2; Ward 4, Election Districts 1, 2, 3, 4; and Ward 5, Election Districts 1, 2, 3, 4

The county Board of Elections’ complete rundown of the contests is available online, www.ocgovboe.net. If unsure where to vote, you can search and find your polling place at the board’s website.

The Board of Elections’ telephone number is (315) 798-5765,

Primary elections are held only in races where the party’s ballot line is contested.
