More than 60 vendors, new features at Rome Home Expo this weekend
The Rome Area Chamber of Commerce’s Rome Home Expo this weekend at Kennedy Arena, 500 W. Embargo St., will host over 60 vendors will include such new features as “Paws-itively Rome,” with activities, products and services for pet-lovers.
AmeriCU Credit Union is sponsoring the Paws-itively Precious Pet Photo Contest. Three “People’s Choice” winners will be selected.
Gift cards from Runnings valued at $100 for first place, $75 for second and $50 for third along with a photo frame will be awarded.
Each attendee will receive a ballot with paid admission, to be used to cast one vote for their favorite pet photo at the display inside the Expo. The photos on display were submitted to the chamber during the month of March.
The admission price this year will benefit the Humane Society of Rome. In addition to the Pack-4-Paws Supply Drive, where the public can bring the Society items to donate, proceeds from admissions will go to the Spay and Neuter Fund at the Rome Humane Society. The price of admission is $5, $7 for families (two adults plus children), $2 for seniors and free for children 12 and under accompanied by an adult.
The Humane Society of Rome, founded in 1956, provides shelter, food and care to unwanted cats and dogs. The Society promotes the adoption of rescued, abandoned, abused or neglected animals into safe lifelong homes. Some of its programs and services include: safe haven for animals in transition; advocating for animals; work to end animal over population, cruelty, abuse and neglect; educating the public and school-children on the humane treatment of animals; lobbying to support animal rights legislation.
