Main Streets Alliance plans return trip to SOUPer Bowl
The Rome Main Street Alliance will again hold the Central New York SOUPer Bowl, this time 11:30 a.m.-4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 3, at the REACH Center 205 W. Dominick St.
CNY SOUPer Bowl is a food celebration and fundraising event naming Central New York’s best soups. A culinary experience, attendees act as judges while local chefs showcase their “foodie favorites.” Attendees sample the entries then vote for their favorite soups, chowders and bisques in various categories competing for the title of “Best Soup in CNY.”
“The 2017 SOUPer Bowl was an overwhelming success with over 600 attendees and 12 restaurants entered,” the Alliance noted. First place soup went to Villa Verona for butternut squash soup. Nola’s came in second with winter squash and ginger bisque soup and Teddy’s Restaurant of Rome came in third with a Tuscan soup. DeSalvo’s of Rome received an honorable mention for chicken and pastina soup.
Proceeds from the 2018 event will benefit Rome Main Streets mission of promoting and furthering economic development of downtown Rome.
Restaurants from throughout the region will be represented. Have a favorite? Several spots are still available and the group is asking the public to tag their favorites on social media links in order to prompt participation.
