Jervis library to hold mini-golf fundraiser
Jervis Public Library is teaming up with local school groups to present an 18-hole indoor mini-golf fundraiser to benefit the library and RFA’s a capella group Fermata Nowhere on Sunday, Feb. 19, from noon to 4 p.m. and Monday, Feb. 20, from noon to 5 p.m.
According to Library Director Lisa Matte, the library is closed on Sundays and the holiday on Monday, but will be open for mini golfers.
Those who play the course will also be able to sign up for library cards and explore the library’s offerings as they walk through the course.
This is made possible by a partnership with RFA’s a capella group Fermata Nowhere. Director Matte reports that the group will be on hand as volunteers for the event, assisting with refreshments and ticket sales. The group will also treat those who play the course to a few songs from their repertoire.
Groups creating a hole for the course are:
• Denti PTO
• Friends of Jervis Public Library
• Gansevoort PTG
• Jervis Library Children’s Room
• Jervis Library UnPlug and Play
• Jervis Library Youth Advisory Committee
• King’s Kids Christian Pre-School
• New York State School for the Deaf
• Rome Free Academy Boys’ Basketball
• RFA French Club
• RFA Green Team
• RFA Indoor Track
• RFA Marching Band
• RFA Musical
• RFA Rhapsody
• Rome Catholic School
• Strough Musical
• Strough PTSO
Pre-sale tickets include two refreshments and are available to groups of 10 or more for $4 per ticket and to individuals for $5 per ticket. Tickets at the door are $5 and do not include refreshments.
“This is the first year for this event, but we plan to build on our first-year experience and hold it again next year,” reported Matte. She added that when the course closes on Monday, a member of Fermata Nowhere will choose next year’s partner by random drawing from the groups that created holes this year.
