City Christmas tree lighting Wednesday, Nov. 22
The city’s Christmas tree lighting ceremony will take place the evening of Wednesday, Nov. 22, at Veterans and Gansevoort Parks at West Court and North James streets.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will light Rome’s Christmas tree again this year. That will take place at about 6:50. But there will be plenty to do before that in the evening.
The activities start at 5:30 with the Trinkaus Village light display and free bike give aways by Ron Crever and Bikes for Kids. There will be food for sale. There will be live music with Scott Rutledge and the Greater CNY Christmas Choir, The Knights of the Mohawk Barbershop Chorus, and Anne Gannon & the Strough and Alumni Band. Take a picture with Santa inside the Rome Historical Society.
The event concludes with fireworks.
The Bobby Page Foundation and Joe Fazio Auto Sales each donated $750 to cover the cost of the fireworks display, as they have in the past.
Only severely inclement weather will postpone the event, which has no makeup date at this time.
