Artistree Studios & Gallery is having a grand re-opening reception 6-8 p.m. Saturday at its new location in the carriage house at the Rome Art & Community Center, 308 W. Bloomfield St.

The gallery will showcase Up-cycled portraits by Rome Free Academy students of Susan Colmey, director of Artistree.

Artistree teamed up with Rome Clean & Green and its executive director, Tanya Davis, allowing students to use discarded VHS and cassette tapes collected at Jervis Public Library’s recycling event to create their work while learning about recycling, reusing and up-cycling.

The event is free and open to the public. All ages are encouraged. There will be light refreshments provided. There will also be live music by Corey Colmey and Christian Arthur, members of the Live and Breathe.
