WAMPSVILLE — The YMCA of the Greater Tri-Valley, in its annual celebration of the organization’s Christian heritage and mission, welcomes former Disney illustrator Davy Liu to its third annual prayer brunch at 9 a.m. on Dec. 9.

Liu worked for Disney as a young man and illustrated the “Lion King,” “Aladdin” and “Mulan.” He is a Christian speaker, author and advocate for youth. He will join pastor Charles Garrison, from the New Genesis Bible Church in New Orleans, whose church was ravaged by Hurricane Katrina, as a speaker for the event.

As an added feature, the Boys & Girls Choir of Harlem Alumni Ensemble will perform several spirituals and Christmas songs.

The event will be held at New Beginnings Church in Wampsville. The cost is $20 and all proceeds go to the YMCA’s Changing Lives Scholarship fund, which helps support those in the community who cannot afford membership or programs at the Y.

Food will be provided by Madison Bistro. Event goers are encouraged to bring a canned food item to help benefit local food pantries. Tickets can be purchased at the Rome or Oneida YMCAs, or on the Y’s website at www.ymcatrivalley.org.
