Persistence pays off

There’s a unique company in Sherrill. And President Trump knows it.

Thanks to the persistence of Rep. Claudia Tenney, the president plans to buy for his own table a set of Sherrill Manufacturing’s Liberty Tabletop brand flatware.

The Sherrill firm is the last manufacturer of flatware in the United States.

From what we gather, it wasn’t easy, but Rep. Tenney approached the president at a meeting and convinced the chief executive to buy some of Sherrill’s products.

Liberty Flatware President Matthew A. Roberts said he didn’t know how many of the knives, forks and spoons will be ordered. The company will be in touch with the White House.

Currently the firm sells about 500,000 units a year to American military bases, and the owners want the government business to remain the top priority.

So, we salute the skills at Liberty Tabletop and the powers of persuasion of Rep. Tenney.

Products from the firm that Roberts and company CEO Gregory Owents rebuilt from the former Oneida Limited will soon be on their way to Washington.
