It’s time to recycle
If you’re one of those people (like most of us) who let things sort of pile up around you, this week is a lucky one.
Jervis Library is hosting its semi-annual Recycling Day on Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the library parking lot.
You’ve still got two days to collect that stuff, junk and miscellaneous debris that you never quite get around to dumping. It’s easy. From personal experience I know. I threw a 20-year-old television (a big one) in the back of my car, drove up and a young man reached in and took it away. Simple as that.
Besides electronic devices, the Recycling Day will handle books, DVDs, CDs and confidential documents to be shredded. Stuff that cannot be accepted for recycling includes air conditioners, kitchen and personal appliances and items containing liquids. For a complete list of the rules and regulations check romesentinel.com and do a search for Jervis. We ran a story on Aug. 9.
We want to give credit to the Solid Waste Authority, Sunnking, Confidata, Ace Hardware, Rome Clean and Green and City Hall for this event.
Also the volunteers who will collect scrap metal. All the money raised will go to support the Recycling Day efforts.
