Congratulations to the Oneida Indian Nation Police, the highly trained officers and staff who have served the Oneida Nation and our region for the past 25 years. The department was saluted at a ceremony last Tuesday.

Ray Halbritter, Oneida Nation Representative and Nation Enterprises CEO, noted: “Looking back it is clear that we have built one of he best police forces in America, but its strength is fortified by the relationships we have developed with public safety officials who share a steadfast commitment to public safety, irrespective of politics.”

It is this collaboration with other departments that show how tribal, local and federal agencies can work together to serve their communities, he said.

Oneida County Sheriff Robert M. Maciol agreed that the strong ties with Oneida Indian Nation Police have worked well over the years. Oneida Nation police are deputized by the Oneida and Madison counties sheriff’s offices.

Looking ahead, we have no doubt that as the Oneida Indian Nation prospers in the future that its police department’s strong relationship with other agencies will grow stronger and better .
