For wellness and friendship
Among the many talents Romans have, involvement in good causes certainly is one of those at the top of the list.
During the past week, we spotted a couple of related items that are worth looking at, not just for their substance but for their theme: People helping other people.
The first was the city’s inaugural CNY Health and Wellness Fair that will be held 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 8, at Kennedy Arena, 500 W. Embargo St.
Maryann Mazzaferro and husband John Mazzaferro have joined forces to host the first free fair, which is sponsored by Grand Healthcare and the Hazen B. Hinman Foundation.
Mrs. Mazzaferro said after postings on social media, interest began to soar for the fair, with participants quickly growing to 50, ranging from nursing homes, to nutrition, to doctor’s offices to end-of-life care. And many more.
The other special event is the second annual Let’s Kick Cancer’s Butt Basket Raffle Saturday, April 8, at 10 a.m. at Kennedy Arena. Proceeds will go toward breast cancer research.
Michelle Danti and Rosa Mizgala Crowley are two friends who helped each other with breast cancer issues and are hosting the raffle event that features crafters and direct sales, music, food and other activities.
As Mrs. Mazzaferro points out, “a happy community is a healthy one.” Join with your neighbors in celebrating good health.
