Broadway tunes fill RFA aud
There was an especially warm place Saturday night in frigid Rome.
Rome Free Academy’s 10th annual musical Cabaret attracted current RFA students as well as alumni in a warm-welcome reunion that featured musical theater pieces. The Cabaret revue, titled “One Normal Night,” included music from shows such as Hamilton, Spring Awakening, Bring It On and others in a mix of solo, duet, trio, quartet and full ensemble pieces.
Producer Jake Meiss, director of RFA bands, noted beforehand that the show would feature some trivia and nostalgia to commemorate the Cabaret’s 10th anniversary. He said he couldn’t believe 10 years had gone by.
Meiss said the show is more popular than ever with more and more alumni participating. He expressed thanks that so many talented performers come back year after year.
The Cabaret reflects the strength of talent and breadth of talent that our local students nurture in the band program.
