Una B. Van Winkle

Una B. Van Winkle 91, of Camden, formerly of Ilion, NY passed away Saturday March 11, 2017 at the Eastern Star Home, Oriskany, NY where she had been a resident since 2009. She was born Dec 14, 1925 in Sandy Creek, NY a daughter of Palmer & Grace Whitford Moore. Una was a 1943 graduate of Camden High School. On Sept 10, 1944, she married Alan ‘Rip’ Van Winkle in Osceola, NY. Una lived in Osceola until she married, they then lived in Camden until moving to Ilion, NY in 1957. She returned to Camden in 2008. Mr. Van Winkle passed away Oct 1, 1983. Una was a very active member with the Ilion United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She was also an active mom with Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. She enjoyed sewing and cooking. 

Surviving are one daughter, Vicki & John Barker, Camden, NY, a son, Robert & Jean Van Winkle, Ontario, NY, 5 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews. She was predeceased by a sister, Verna Ammann and three brothers, Frank, Glenn ‘Lefty’ and Graydon Moore. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the very caring staff at the Eastern Star Home for their care and compassion.

Funeral services will be held 10:00am Thursday from LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden, NY. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Wednesday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home, 109 Main Street. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s Association CNY Chapter, Syracuse, NY.
