Ronald Karpinski

BRACEY, VA — Mr. Ronald P. Karpinski, 70, passed away on Thursday July 6, 2017 at his home with his loving family by his side. Ronald was born on August 30, 1946 in Rome, N.Y., the son of the late Joseph and Angeline (Przybycien) Karpinski. He was raised and educated in Rome and was a graduate of Rome Free Academy class of 1964. On February 4, 1967, he married the former Kathleen V. Sroka at Transfiguration Church in Rome N.Y. The two loved and remained faithfully devoted to each other for the past 50 years, recently celebrating their Golden Wedding Anniversary with family and friends. Ronald served his country during the Vietnam War by enlisting in the United States Air Force. He earned the rank of Staff Sergeant and received an Honorable Discharge in 1970. Ron and Kathy were owners of the former R K Kennels in Rome for many years. Mr. Karpinski was also employed by the City of Rome Fire Department, a job that he loved, for over 26 years. He retired in 1999 at the rank of Lieutenant. He was also a co-owner of Holly Grove Marina located in Bracey, Va. Throughout his entire life he was an avid hunter and fisherman, and enjoyed spending his spare time sharing this love of the outdoors with his family or friends. Ronald was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed but the love, wisdom, values and kindness that he bestowed on those who knew him will endure forever.

Ronald is survived by his wife Kathleen; a daughter Laurie and her husband Michael Coughlin of Taberg, N.Y.; a son Craig of Bracey, V.A.; two grandchildren, Joshua and Meghan Coughlin; his brother and sister-in- law Richard and Carol Karpinski of Littleton, N.C.; his brother-in-law Michael Sroka and his wife Patricia of Willington, N.C.; and several nieces and nephews. Ronald was preceded by both his parents and a brother Kenneth. The Karpinski family would like to thank all the family, friends, and caregivers for their love, help and support during Ronald’s recent illness.
