Raul Rivera, 44, of Rome, passed away on Thursday, October 5, 2017, at Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse after a brief illness. He was born in Anasco, Puerto Rico, on November 9, 1972, the son of Santos Rivera Soto and Maria Rivera Vasquez. He came to the United States in 1996.
Raul worked for Pro Line Automotive in Rome for several years.
He loved to fix anything, especially cars, and spending time with his family. He was a huge WWE fan and liked the NY Yankees.
He is survived by his dad, Santos of Rome; his beloved grandmother, Eugenia Rivera Vasquez of Florida; his fiancé, Elaine Otero of Rome; four children, Dayanley Rodriguez, Ashwin Rivera, Sayris Rivera, and Yaimel Rivera, all of Rome; two stepdaughters, Valicia and Celina Otero of Rome; six brothers, Santos River III of Puerto Rico, Roberto Rivera of Utica, Jose River of Missouri, Jesus Rivera of Rome, Santos Rivera Jr., of Rome, and Israel Rivera of Rome; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother, Maria.
Funeral services will be held on Monday at 7:00 p.m. at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome. Family and friends are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday prior to the service from 4-7:00 p.m.
