Patricia R. (Rutkowski) Bowen

ORISKANY — Patricia R. Bowen 62, of Oriskany, passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Monday, October 8, 2018 at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center. 

She was born on May 9, 1956 in Utica a daughter of the late Charles and Eleanor (Ecker) Rutkowski. She was a 1975 graduate of Oriskany Central Schools, and the Marcy Psychiatric School of Nursing.

Patricia was employed as a Nurse Administrator at Mohawk Valley Psychiatric Center in Utica, retiring in May of 2011 after 33 years of dedicated services.

Patricia was an animal enthusiasts who adored her many feline and canine companions, including her beloved “Bailey”, “Schotzie” who had predeceased her. She was an accomplished artist who also loved gardening, traveling and the Ocean. She is remembered by her family as a loving daughter, sister and aunt who loved her family immensely, she cherished the time that she spent with them, especially her adored nieces and nephews who meant the world to her. 

She is survived by her siblings, Olga Scire of Margate, FL, Charlie Rutkowski and his wife Kathy of Portland, OR., Sandra Buehler of Oriskany, Karen Lekki-Flint of Oriskany, David Rutkowski and his wife Kalyn of Baldwinsville and John Rutkowski and his wife Adrienne also of Baldwinsville. She also leaves her nieces and nephews, Katie, Jennifer, Chrissy, Erin, Todd, Megan, Ben, Nick, Nate, Michael, Tina, Tommy and her special niece Nora who was like a granddaughter to her. Also surviving are many grand nieces and nephews; and her special friends and traveling companions Cheryl Ptak, Jeff Koch, Don Garguilo; and last but not least her canine companion and best friend “Elsa” whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her brothers-in-law, Thomas Buehler and Larry Flint. 

The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of the ICU unit at St. Elizabeth’s, Dr. Winn, Dr. Ramovic and Dr. Fabian for the wonderful care and compassion that was given to Patricia during her illness. 

Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Dimbleby Funeral Homes, Inc., Forty Main St. Whitesboro with the Rev. John Buehler officiating. Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
