Nancy L. (Barr) Halstead

Nancy L. (Barr) Halstead, 71, of Camden, NY passed away unexpectedly on September 20, 2018. She was born on February 18, 1947 in Syracuse, NY a daughter of Frederick & Lucille Miller Hatter. She was a 1964 graduate of St. John the Baptist Academy and attended LeMoyne College. In 1978, Nancy moved to Camden, NY and married Frederick Halstead, a marriage that lasted 18 years until his passing in June, 1997. She had worked at a bank, two credit unions plus several part time jobs in Camden. 

Nancy was a dedicated member of the Camden Lions Club since November 1993 having held various offices, including Treasurer, Lion Tamer, Tail Twister and Board of Directors member, and had served on various committees. She also received several awards including; Lions Clubs International President’s Certificate of Appreciation, Lion of the Year, Robert J. Uplinger Award, Melvin Jones Fellowship and the Award of Merit. She was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church, Camden, NY and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles. 

Surviving are two daughters, Lisa & Jim Beattie, Cortland, NY and Tracy VanCise, Oak Island, NC, a grandson, Derek, granddaughter, Shelbee and a great granddaughter, Ellie, four step daughters, Deborah & Norman Leach, Camden, Donna & Matthew Quenneville, Central Square, Diane & Hector Vega, Palm Bay, FL and Doreen & Edward Johnson, Camden, NY, two step sons, David & Terri Halstead, Westdale and Darrin Halstead, Camden, NY, 13 step grandchildren, 18 step great grandchildren, three cousins, Susan Philp, Karen Hatter, Chuck Hatter, several nieces & nephews and five step sisters. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a cousin, John Hatter and a son in law, Timothy Brown. 

A Funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, September 25, 2018 from St. John’s Church, Camden, NY. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be held Monday, September 24, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. at LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., 109 Main Street, Camden, NY.
