Mary Elizabeth Kazlauskas

DURHAMVILLE — Mary Elizabeth Kazlauskas, 79, of Foster Street, passed away at home Friday, November 2, 2018, after gracefully battling Alzheimers.

She was born on September 29, 1939 in Utica, NY, the daughter of Michael and Mary Dwyer. Mary was a graduate of St. Francis de Sales, Class of 1957.

On June 22, 1963 she was married to John P. Kazlauskas at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Utica, NY.

Marybeth, most recently a parishioner of St. Joseph’s in Oneida, was a generous woman of deep faith and spent many years serving at St. Mary’s of the Lake in Sylvan Beach, where she facilitated the RICA program.

In addition to her devotion to serving the church, Marybeth was active in the community for many years as a volunteer at the Oneida Healthcare Center. She was also a mentor for youth in the Madison County Buddy Program.

Along with raising her five children, Marybeth spent countless hours crocheting afghans for beloved family members, beautifying the Kaz family yard with her colorful flower gardens and enjoying the summer sun at the Dwyer camp in Sylvan Beach. She later joined the women of the local Red Hat Society for social gatherings.

Marybeth enjoyed working as a restaurant hostess at Eddies and the Ramsden. She also worked at the Norstar and Oneida Savings Banks and at Olsten Temporary Services. 

Surviving besides her loving husband of 55 years, John, are five children, Kathy (Dan) Whittaker of Grove City, PA., Robert Kazlauskas of San Jose, CA, John F. (Charissa) Kazlauskas of Antrim, NH, Rich Kazlauskas of Durhamville, NY and Beth (Pete) Zotti of Eagle Lake, FL; and a brother, Rev. Robert Dwyer of Windsor, NY. She is also survived by several grandchildren. Marybeth was predeceased by her sister, Ann Towne and brother Rev. Michael Dwyer. 

Marybeth and her family are forever grateful for the loving care given by Mary Rose, Sue and her niece, Debbie.

Funeral services will be held 9:45 a.m., Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from the Campbell-Dean Funeral Home, Inc., 260 Main Street, Oneida and 10:30 from St. Mary’s of the Lake, Sylvan Beach, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be concelebrated by the Reverends Robert Dwyer, Richard Kapral and Stephen Wirkes.
