Marjorie L. Cardinal
FLOYD, NY — Marjorie L. Cardinal, 86, of Floyd passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Sunday, January 7, 2018 at Faxton St. Luke’s Health Care in New Hartford.
She was born on June 24, 1931 in Floyd, NY a daughter of the late Ward and Laura (Buck) Furman. She was educated in Holland Patent schools. On April 7, 1951 at the Stittville United Methodist Church she was united in marriage to Richard J. Cardinal Sr. A blessed union of over 38 years filled with much love and mutual devotion. Mr. Cardinal died on July 24, 1989.
Marjorie was a nurse at St. Luke’s Hospital Labor and Delivery retiring in 1989 after more than 33 years of dedicated service.
Marjorie was a dedicated member of the Stittville United Methodist Church for many years. She also was a member of the Stittville VFW Ladies Auxiliary, the Floyd and Marcy Senior Citizens Groups. She also was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother who loved her family immensely. She especially enjoyed the time that she spent with her adored children and grandchildren. She enjoyed gardening, painting and traveling throughout the United States and abroad especially in Europe. She volunteered at the Eastern Star Home gift shop in Oriskany and at the Twin Churches Thrift Shop in Holland Patent.
She is survived by her children, Audrey Humphrey and her husband Charles of Constableville, Diane Koenig and her husband David of Floyd, Richard J. Cardinal Jr. and his wife Mary of Floyd, and Jeffrey Cardinal and his wife Jodi of Stittville. She also leaves her grandchildren, Chuckie Humphrey and his wife Mae, Danny Humphrey, Jason Humphrey, Chad Koenig and his girlfriend Melanie, Justin Koenig and his wife Jessica, Dan Golden and his wife Karisma, Christopher Cardinal and Nicollette Cardinal; her great-grandchildren, Rachel, Willie, Victoria, Jordan, Jaxon, Jayce, Christopher and Daniel. She is also survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Clifford and Iva Furman of Remsen and a sister-in-law, Claire Furman of Whitesboro and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother Walter Furman a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Fred and Lois Cardinal.
The family wishes to sincerely thank the staff of Faxton St. Luke’s Health Care ER, PCU, the 3rd Floor and Dr. Scott Brehaut for the wonderful care and compassion that was given to Marjorie during her illness.
Family and friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service which will be held on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at the Stittville United Methodist Church in Stittville with the Rev. Cindy Makarchuk officiating. Interment will be in the spring in the Townsend Cemetery in Stittville. Family and friends are invited to call on Wednesday from 3 to 7 p.m. at the Dimbleby Funeral Homes Inc. Forty Main St. in Whitesboro.
