Marion Vacheresse Northrup

Marion Vacheresse Northrup, 95, of Rome, passed away on October 14, 2017, at The Pines Nursing Home in Utica, NY. She was born on March 20, 1922 in Rome, NY, the daughter of the late James Vacheresse and Flora Evans Vacheresse. Marion was a graduate of Rome Free Academy, Class of 1937. On April 27, 1941 she was united in marriage to Clarence (Bun) Northrup , who predeceased her on June, 8, 1998. Marion was employed as the office manager at Dr. Stellato’s dental office until her retirement. She was formerly employed by the Rome DDSO, and the City of Rome Assessors Office. In her free- time she loved to volunteer at the Ava Dorfman Senior Center, the South Rome Senior Center, The Welcome Hall, and, Loaves and Fishes. Marion was a talented musician who played Violin in the Utica Symphony at the age of fifteen. She was a life-long member of the Rome Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, where her family were founding charter members of the church.

Marion leaves behind two nieces, Charmiane Vacheresse Linn, and, Patricia Vacheresse Race, and their children, James Linn, Jennifer Perez Sidway, Ricardo Antonio Perez, and, Toni Lea Race. She also leaves behind many great-great nieces and nephews. Marion was predeceased by a sister Helen Vacheresse, a brother James Vacheresse II, and two nephews William Vacheresse, and James Vacheresse III. A special thank you goes to Jan Thomas who was a wonderful friend to Marion, and a special person in her life.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family.

Funeral services are to be held on Tuesday, October 17, 2017, at 12:00 p.m. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home at 7751 Merrick Road, Rome. Family and Friends are invited to attend calling hours on Tuesday from 10 a.m. - 12 p.m. prior to the service. Interment will take place at Rome Cemetery.
