Kenneth LaVerne Russell

Kenneth LaVerne Russell, 87, of Blossvale, NY passed away Friday, November 24, 2017 at Rome Memorial Hospital. He was born on March 14, 1930 a son of Herbert and Leah Lines Russell. Ken served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and was a proud veteran. On August 21, 1954 he married the former Raye P. “Rip” Bormann in Sherrill, NY. Mrs. Russell passed away April 6, 2003. Kenneth worked as a mechanic for Jays Sales and Service and the Town of Vienna for many years. He also drove school bus for the Birnie Bus Co., for several years. Ken was a long time member of the Lt. Victor Giles V.F.W. Post, Camden, NY, the Vienna United Methodist Church and a lifetime member of Vienna Vol. Fire Dept. He enjoyed fishing, road trips, woodworking, auto mechanics and helping others.

Surviving are four daughters, Sherri Bunal, Lee Center, NY, Gail Evans and Dennis Picciurro, Byers, CO, Gwendalyn and Jerry Williamson, North Bay, NY, Kathy and Ken Irwin, North Highlands, CA; 7 grandchildren, Tami Stenson, Benjimen and Jackie Lewis, Deanna and Jason Procopio, Adam and Kimberly Bunal, Leah and Robert Lallier, James Lacell, Rebekah Lacell and Emily Smith; 15 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents, he is welcomed to Heaven by a great grand-daughter, Abigail Bunal; two sisters, Vera Owens, Vivian Irwin; and a brother, Willard “Rusty” Russell.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday from the Vienna United Methodist Church under the direction of LaRobardiere Funeral Home, Inc., Camden, NY. Calling hours will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the church, 2410 St. Rt. 49. Interment Maple Flats Cemetery, Cleveland, NY. Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to Lt.
