Julienne ‘Julie’ Nehring

Julienne “Julie” Nehring, 80, of Rome, passed away on May 16, 2018, at Bethany Gardens Nursing Home. She was born on June 18, 1937 in Gary, IN a daughter of the late Henry and Julia Mills Nehring. She was the youngest of eight children. Julie was an active member of St. Mary’s / St. Peters Church. She was a former member of the Altar Rosary Society, Legion of Mary, Seniors Club and Rome Theresians. She was an associate member of the Sisters of St. Joseph. She volunteered her time at the Good News Foundation. Julie would also help prepare the newsletter for the deaf community of the Diocese of Syracuse. She assisted in preparing items for St. Mary’s/ St. Peter’s Mission of the Christ Child. She worked as a library aid at Transfiguration School and St. Peter’s School. 

Julie is survived by many friends, including Christine Bart, Rome, Jacque and John Schachte, Cumming, GA, Mary Margaret and Jim Van Damme, Rome, Pam and Dan Burns, Cary, N.C.; she was predeceased by her sisters, Margaret Kado and Anne Donnelly; brothers, Henry, Paul, Harold and James Nehring.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mission of the Christ Child at St. Peter’s Church 105 East Liberty Street, Rome N.Y. 13440

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 21, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church, Rome, with Rev. Phillip Hearn officiating. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 4-6 p.m. at Strong-Burns & Sprock Funeral Home, Rome. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
