John T. ‘Jay’ Wilhelmsen II

John T. “Jay” Wilhelmsen, II, 48, of Podunk Rd., Lee Center, passed away on Tuesday, August 7, 2018, at Faxton-St. Luke’s Healthcare in New Hartford.

He was born on October 9, 1969, in Rome, the son of John T. and Patricia Compo Wilhelmsen. He was a graduate of Rome Free Academy, Class of 1987.

Jay was a self-employed Master Plumber for many years.

He was an avid hunter and enjoyed riding his motorcycle. He always looked forward to spending time with his boys and close friends.

Surviving besides his mom, Patricia, formerly of Lee, and his dad, John (Shirley) Wilhelmsen, of Oregon; are his two sons, Karl Wilhelmsen, and Curtis Wilhelmsen, both of Syracuse; his former wife, Tami, of Rome; two sisters, Valerie (Rick) Destito, of Rome, and Julie (Jimmy) Barton, of Lee Center; his canine companion, Chipper; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited and may call on Friday, August 10, 2018, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome. A Time of Sharing will follow at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made in Jay’s memory to a charity of one’s choice.
