James A. Carollo, Jr.

LAS VEGAS, NEVADA — James “Jim” A. Carollo, Jr., passed away Friday, February, 23, 2018, after a long struggle with COPD. 

Jim was born in Rome, New York on July 18, 1943, the son of the late James and Lena Guaspari Carollo.

Jim leaves his loving wife of 52 years, Susan Pollard Carollo, their two sons and daughters-in-law; James and Tiffini Robinson Carollo of Bluemont, Virginia and Lawrence “Larry” Carollo and Alexandra Fabesh of Las Vegas, Nevada; his brother and sister-in-law, Ronald and Frances Carollo of Rome; two sisters-in-law, Gail and Donald Maxwell of Naples, Florida and Trisha Pollard of Denver, Colorado,mother-in-law Dorothy “Grama Dot” Pollard of Las Vegas; two cherished grandchildren, Alanna and Joseph “Joey” Carollo; and several nieces and nephews. Jim was predeceased by two sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Carollo and Pamela Santalucia.

Jim was a member of the Rome Free Academy class of 1961. He attended Utica College and was a member of Alpha Phi Delta Fraternity. He worked for West End Brewing Company in Buffalo, New York, Chicago Markets and Great American grocery chains. He also ran Town and Country Markets in Rome. After moving to Las Vegas in 1999, Jim became the horticulturist at Angel Park Golf Course. Jim said that he “painted pictures with flowers.” He received many awards for his beautiful flowers.

The family is planning a Celebration of Life for August in Rome.

Jim’s family would like to express their thanks to the wonderful doctors, nurses and staff of the third floor at Summerlin Hospital and also at the Complex Care Hospital at Tenaya for their amazing care and compassion.

Jim always told his grandchildren to “make the world a better place.” Jim certainly did this with his beautiful flowers. The family asks that you follow Jim’s lead by planting a flower in memory of Jim.
