Grace Susan Wolff, MD.

Grace Susan Wolff, MD., born in Rome, New York, passed away peacefully on July 16, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family.

Grace graduated from the Academy of the Holy Names in Rome, and then graduated with a bachelor’s degree from LeMoyne College in Syracuse, NY. She obtained her medical doctor’s degree from Marquette University Medical School (now Medical College of Wisconsin) and then completed a post-graduate fellowship in Pediatric Cardiology at Harvard University’s Boston Children’s Hospital. After a few years on the faculty at Albany Medical Center in NY, she moved to Miami, FL to join the Pediatric Cardiology Division at the University of Miami Medical School. Grace was a nationally-recognized innovator both in diagnostic procedures and in new treatments of abnormal rhythms using catheters inside the heart. She was nationally known through her professional contributions to the American Board of Pediatrics. 

Grace was a mentor to many students and led the training of scores of Pediatric Cardiologists now practicing in the U.S. and abroad. She attained the rank of Professor and Director of her Division, from which she had retired to enjoy stays with her husband, environmental engineer Dr. Armando I. Perez, at their vacation home in the Adirondack mountains in Upstate NY. In her retirement years she served as a Regent at LeMoyne College and as a Eucharistic minister at St. Augustine Church in Coral Gables, FL.

Grace is survived by her husband Dr. Armando I. Perez; brother Robert Wolff; brother-in-law Carlos Aurelio Perez (Marta); nieces and nephews Carlos Miguel Perez (Griselle), Armando Antonio Perez (Raquel), Dr. Marta Perez-Silva (Alejandro); Lois Biederman (Larry), William Finch (Barbara), Pamela Davidson (Timothy), Robin Haggerty and Robert Wolff, Jr. (Terry). 

A mass will be celebrated on Monday, July 20, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Catholic Church, located at 1400 Miller Road, Coral Gables, Florida, followed by a burial at Our Lady of Mercy, 11411 NW 25th Street. Grace will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her.
