Eleanor (Cimino) Mazzaferro

Eleanor Mazzaferro, 87, of Rome, passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 15, 2018 at Bethany Gardens. She was born in Utica on January 18, 1931, the daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine Sacco Cimino. On November 23, 1950, she was united in marriage to Salvatore “Sonny” Mazzaferro and together they shared a blessed union of over 53 years. Sonny passed away on January 7, 2004. 

Ella worked at several area department stores in Rome including Nelson’s, Goldberg’s and Rosen’s. 

She was a parishioner at St. Paul’s Church. 

Ella is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Frances and Ronald Carollo and Kathleen and David “Chip” Lee, all of Rome; a brother and sister-in-law, Anthony and Marilyn Cimino of Utica; four cherished grandchildren, Salvatore (Kelly Hoke) Carollo, Sara (Jim) Kramer, Christopher (Kelley) Lee and Megan (Ray) Houle; four precious great-grandchildren, Nolan, Maryn, Colton and Adella; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Yetta Scialdo and Frances DeCuffa; and one brother, Nicholas Cimino. 

Ella’s family would like to thank the amazing staff on the 6th Floor at Bethany Gardens for their wonderful care and compassion. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church. Interment will take place in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Family and friends may call on Tuesday at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome, from 4-7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Ella’s memory may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
