Lee justice ‘humbled and honored’

TOWN OF LEE — Town Justice Daniel L. Furney says "experience, character and trust" were keys to his re-election Tuesday to a second 4-year term.

Furney, "humbled and honored" that town residents re-elected him, said that over the past four years, "I have earned the trust of the people to rely on my experience in exercising judicial discretion that’s in the best interest of our community."

Furney will seek to "continue to preserve the safety, values and culture of our community." Commenting that Town of Lee Court "operates as a team," Furney congratulated fellow Town Justice Sharon S. Merrill on her election victory and offered a "special thank you" to retired town justices Fremont Plopper and Joseph Goetz. He also thanked court clerk Dawn Tartaglia for "her endless’ help.

He also welcomed court clerk Shelley Waterman who is the "newest member of the team."

Furney was the top vote-getter in a 3-way race for two seats, followed by Merrill and first-time candidate Terry G. Aiello who was unsuccessful in her bid.
