Scouting for food pickup Nov. 9
During the first two weekends in November, local Cub Scouts and Boy Scouts will collect food items for local food banks and pantries in Oneida, Herkimer, Madison, Otsego, Lewis and Herkimer counties.
Local residents can look for Price Chopper bags that will be distributed in the area on Saturday, Nov. 2. The food items will be collected one week later on Saturday, Nov. 9.
All food collected will be brought to local churches, food pantries and food banks. Types of food include: canned items, baby food and other non-perishables. No fruits/vegetables, frozen food, or food in glass containers will be accepted.
Scouting for Food is an annual event. Last year area Scouts collected more than 70,000 pounds of food. This year’s program is being made possible with the help of Price Chopper and New York Sash.
Anyone with questions should call the Scout Service Center at 735-4437, Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
