Strong and Burns sold
Strong & Burns Funeral Home, 401 North George St., is under new ownership.
Longtime owner and operator John J. Strong Jr. turned the keys over to J.T. Sprock on March 28. Since then, it has gone by the name Strong-Burns & Sprock.
Sprock has been in the business for over 28 years as a licensed funeral director and has worked closely with Strong and Burns for many of those years. "As a lifelong resident of this area, I am delighted to carry on the tradition of Strong and Burns Funeral Home, which has long been known for its high level of service," he said.
John Strong Jr. will be staying on at the funeral home to assist Sprock. His father, John Strong Sr., founded the funeral home in 1916. Strong Jr. said that for almost 100 years the success of the funeral home has come from the service philosophy of his father: "to treat every grieving family member like he would have wanted to be addressed in similar situations." Strong said he is confident that this philosophy will continue on with the change in ownership. "I have known J.T. for many years and can assure the families we serve that they will receive the same level of personal attention and caring that they have always received from Strong and Burns," he said.
In addition to the name, other changes are on the horizon, Sprock said. "I look forward to serving the people of Rome and the surrounding communities," he said.
