The Rome Daily Sentinel took home multiple honors from the New York Newspapers Advertising and Marketing Executive’s 2013 Advertising Competition this year.
Winners were honored during a banquet at the sixth annual Sales and Marketing Joint Conference held June 10 in Albany.
The Daily Sentinel was entered in the 10,000—50,000 circulation class. The paper won first prize in the categories of Newspaper Self-Promotion, Promotional Literature, and Community Service. The Sentinel came in second in the categories of Black and White Ad, Locally Prepared Color, Ad Campaign, and Advertising Section — Newspaper Supplement.
"The publishing of our award winning sections is a joint effort brought to fruition by our Sales and our Production departments," said Linda Carlson, advertising manager/automotive sales consultant at the Sentinel.
Carlson said that the Sentinel’s victory in the community service category was particularly important to the paper.
"We are especially proud of our 1st place win in the category of Community Service," she said. "Our Rome Area Chamber of Commerce 100th Anniversary commemorative issue was truly a collaboration between the Rome Sentinel Sales & Production staff and The Rome Chamber, especially the President, Bill Guglielmo. We are pleased to be able to chronicle and salute the work of our Rome Chamber of Commerce."
