The Mohawk Valley Bluegrass Association presents its Second Annual Indoor Bluegrass Festival in the Capitol Theatre, 220 W. Dominick St., on Saturday at 7 p.m. It’s a fundraiser for the association’s 2013 Bluegrass Festival
Admission to Saturday’s show is $10 for adults and $9 for seniors and MV Bluegrass Members. Persons 16 years old and younger are admitted free with paid adult. Tickets are available at the Capitol box office (337-6453), online at www.romecapitol.com, and at the door.
The concert features four noted bluegrass bands:
¿ Cincinnati Creek — a bluegrass band featuring Lori Thompson playing mandolin, guitar and singing both lead and harmony vocals; Chris Pepe on banjo and harmony vocal; Gary Dygert on guitar, resonator guitar, and mandolin, also lead and harmony vocals; Cathy Martin on bass and vocal harmony.
¿ Off the Wall consisting of Larry Fox, Charlie Ingersoll, John Burton, and Dave Rybinski. The group performs a combination of bluegrass, folk, Americana, and county style roots music that features strong vocals. The name "Off the Wall" comes from what organizers call "their unique and eclectic repertoire," consisting of songs from diverse sources ranging from Elton John to Bill Monroe.
¿ Atkinson Family Bluegrass Band has, according to organizers, "a sound reminiscent of the music of the legendary Bill Monroe, while at the same time incorporating new grooves and tones." The band features Dick, Shelene, Liza and Laura Atkinson, plus Nick Piccinni and Dave Bevins.
¿ Lake Effect Bluegrass consists of Steve Millett, guitar and lead vocals, Karen Campolicto, bass and vocals, David Willson, fiddle and vocals (also an accomplished yodeler), Lee Millett, mandolin, and Gordon Jones, banjo.
