Donations at free concert
to benefit Canal Museum

BOONVILLE — Boonville native and entertainer Michael Scott Ferris and Adirondack folk singer Dan Berggren along with performance artist Lisa Brigantino will perform Friday at 7 p.m. for an evening of music. The concert will be held in the Boonville Elementary School Auditorium on Ford Street.

Admission is by donation, and all proceeds will benefit the Black River Canal Museum. Refreshments will be offered at intermission and CDs from all the artists will be available for sale.

The three entertainers are alumni of Fredonia State University at Fredonia and performed in Boonville in the mid 1980’s with the "Fredonia Chamber Singers." After last year’s successful concert, Dan wanted to collaborate with Michael for the 2013 benefit. The two worked out the details and decided to invite Lisa to join them. Susan Haefner, another Fredonia alum and veteran of Broadway was asked to sing as well as Lisa’s sister and fellow Fredonia alum, Lori Brigantino.

Ferris has been busy in the community singing with the Adirondack Community Chorus, running Musical Theater Workshops for high school and college aged students and giving voice lessons to area students and adults through the Dodge Pratt Northam Arts and Community Center. He will perform songs from his debut CD, Yesterdaydream.

Berggren is known far and wide for his songs about the Adirondacks and the people in its communities. He tours extensively sharing his songs and has become an avid supporter of the Boonville Black River Canal Museum. A few years ago Dan was asked to write a song about the canal which will be featured in the concert.

Lisa Brigantino, Ferris’ long time friend, collaborated with him on Yesterdaydream and offered to accompany him for this concert. The singer/songwriter will also be performing a number of her own songs, often with the backup assistance of her sister Lori and friend Haefner.
