Teens sent to hospital after crash
Two teen-agers were hospitalized after their car collided with a pickup truck at Union and Elm streets Wednesday afternoon.
Police said William H. Moonen, 17, of 5165 Lee Valley Road, Lee, was northbound on Union Street at 5:28 p.m. when he didn’t see the stop sign at Elm, and his 2001 Dodge sedan crashed into the rear driver side of a westbound 2013 Chevy pickup, driven by Christopher W. Unangst, 38, of 716 W. Liberty St.
Police said Moonen complained of chest pain and he was taken to Rome Memorial Hospital. He was joined by passenger Justice M. Baker, 14, who suffered minor bleeding to his face. Moonen was also ticketed for failure to stop for the sign, unlicensed operator and no insurance.
¿ A 37-year-old driver was ticketed after police said she ran a red light and T-boned another vehicle at Expense and West Liberty streets Wednesday.
Police said Jessica C. Wilder, of 6426 Wager Drive, was southbound on Expense when she ran a red light and her car collided with a car driven by Lisa D. Dehimer, 47, of 81 Dixon Drive. No one was injured. Wilder was ticketed, police said.
