Family Fun Day fundraiser for ski patrol Saturday

WESTERNVILLE — The 22nd annual Family Fun Day, with a noon Chicken Barbecue, hosted by Woods Valley volunteer ski patrol will begin at 9 a.m. Saturday at Woods Valley Ski Area, Dopp Hill Road.

The day features new events along with family favorites — both on and off the slopes. New this year is a Rail Jam at 1 p.m. for skiers and snowboarders. Prizes will be awarded in a variety of competitive categories. A craft beer tasting will be held between 2-5 p.m. Purchase a punch card, with a valid ID, and sample five beers from area distributors.

There will be music in the chalet and the event’s popular chicken barbecue begins at noon. The 50/50 raffle drawing and presentation of awards takes place at 3:30 p.m. in the chalet.

Activities scheduled throughout the day include the family snowboard/ski obstacle course race; Gold Rush treasure hunt for all children; snowman contest; football toss; and Ski Patrol toboggan rides.

The Woods Valley volunteer ski patrol hosts one major fund-raiser each year to raise money to replenish first aid supplies, purchase new toboggans and on-the-hill equipment, and to maintain communication devices. For more information, call the Woods Valley Ski Patrol at 827-4462.
