Photo show opens Tuesday at Shoppe
The Photo Shoppe’s ninth annual Photography Show opening reception will be at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The reception will be held at The Photo Shoppe, 1705 N. James St. Winners will be announced at 6:45.
Prizes will be awarded for first, second and third place in color and black and white. Honorable mention awards and special awards from The Photo Shoppe and Darkroom Unlimited will be awarded as well.
The show features 122 color and black and white photographs taken by the community’s amateur photographers. "The Photo Shoppe has a passion for our community’s photographers. Their drive behind sponsoring this show is to give our photographers a place to showcase their work in a gallery setting," the business stated.
The photography show judge is Greg Cost, a teacher of photography and art at Whitesboro High School. Cost is also an adjunct professor at Mohawk Valley Community College and Herkimer County Community College. He has had his own photography shows at HCCC and The Stanley Gallery. Cost’s work has been accepted in the New York State Fair, Kirkland Art Center and CNY Council for the Arts galleries.
The exhibit runs through March 30 and is open during the store’s hours of operation — 9:30 a.m.-6 p.m. weekdays and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturdays.
