Enter the Haggis at MVCC Friday
Friday the Celtic rock band Enter the Haggis performs at 7 p.m. in Schafer Theater, Information Technology Building on Mohawk Valley Community College’s Utica campus.
Admission is $20, $10 faculty/staff, free for MVCC students.
The Canadian indie/Scottish/folk rock world-fusion band, based in Toronto, Canada, has visited the area for the past several years, playing at the Great American Irish Festival in Frankfort.
The group’s new album, "The Modest Revolution" features songs that are completely based on news stories from the March 30th, 2012 issue of The Globe and Mail from Toronto, Canada.
Promoters said, "Few things are as widely appealing as the news, and The Modest Revolution reflects this to a great extent. The main focus of this particular issue was the Canadian fiscal policy, which had just been passed. What resulted were a series of songs ranging from woeful to sentimental, featuring instruments from the trumpet to the bagpipe."
The band recorded the album with the help of fans, raising $20,000 in less than 12 hours.
