Nunset Boulevard opens Oct. 4

"Nunset Boulevard" opens the Rome Community Theater season Thursday, Oct. 4 in the theater, 8911 Turin Road (Route 26) in the Town of Lee.

Theater officials said they are "pleased to once again host those talented Little Sisters of Hoboken from Mount Saint Helen’s School in Hoboken, New Jersey."

Theater officials said, "We last met the Sisters performing in Las Vegas in RCT’s 2009’s production of ‘Nunsensations.’ This latest installment, with book, lyrics and music by Dan Groggin is the seventh in the series. We find Reverend Mother Regina (Denise Borek Morganti) and Sisters Mary Hubert (Amy Surrette), Robert Anne (Jean Gudaitis), Mary Paul/Amnesia (Cathy Frank), Leo (Livia Goewey), and a special appearance by Sister Mary Annette, in Hollywood thinking that they will be performing at the famed Hollywood Bowl, only to learn that they will be appearing at the Hollywood Bowl-A-Rama and Cabaret Lounge!"

"The Sisters make the best of an imperfect situation and soon get caught up in the allure of tinsel town’s glitz, glamour and illustrious silver screen history. They each muse over what might have been had they not followed their true calling. The excitement of being in Hollywood is contagious and the Sisters think that perhaps they might do a screen test for a planned movie musical bio of Dolores Hart, former actress who, in fact, turned her back on a Hollywood career to become a Benedictine Sister. After all, who could be more realistic for the role?"

RCT officials said, "The Sisters present a glamorous revue, certain to entertain with singing, dancing, comedy skits and a special audience participation game show with ‘heavenly prizes.’"

Barb Seaton wears two hats as director and music director for this production. She is no stranger to the Little Sisters, having directed their last appearance at RCT in 2009. Pat Burke is assistant director and Lorraine Goewey is the producer.
