RFA JVs victorious over Proctor

The Rome Free Academy junior varsity football squad was victorious over rival Proctor High of Utica, 53-30, on Saturday at the Stadium.

Brad Daugherty and LJ Redpath each scored two touchdowns apiece to lead the Black Knights. Daugherty scored on two- and three-yard runs, while the quarterback Redpath threw passes to Zach Gruber and Dylan Finley at 16 and nine yards, respectively and finishing with 76 passing yards.

Lyndell Reed also scored a TD on a 88-yard punt return, and Kyle LaPointe ran in for a score on a 60-yard kickoff return. Michael Brognano also put one in for a score on a 7-yard dash.

Reed had 92 yards rushing, and Daugherty rushed for 73 yards.

Brendan Wishart led the defense with 10 tackles, and Kyle LaPointe added nine tackles. Brendan Kilpatrick, Dylan Finley and Redpath each had one interception on defense, as well.

Rome ties with foes

The RFA junior varsity girls soccer team battled to a 2-2 tie with Central Square after two 10-minute overtime periods.

Jennifer Tasco scored a goal on a penalty kick as Rome made 19 shots to the net.
Goaltender Mariah Mays made four saves in net.
