Scuplture Space announces executive director appointment
Officials at Sculpture Space, 12 Gates St., Utica, an international artist-in-residency program announced the appointment of Monika Burczyk as executive director over the weekend following a national search.
Burczyk, who was formerly interim director, "brings an extensive background in contemporary art, art education and community arts to the position," they said, adding, "She is committed to expanding services to artists-in-residence and strengthening ties to the community of artists, art professionals and art supporters while promoting Sculpture Space’s vision as a laboratory for creativity around the world."
In the past, Burczyk has worked as coordinator of interpretation/education at the Picker Art Gallery of Colgate University (Hamilton) and was also coordinator of exhibitions/education at Stone Quarry Hill Art Park (Cazenovia).
In addition, Burczyk has taught at multiple institutions, including Pratt/MWPAI, Colgate University, Hampshire College, Lesley University and New York University.
She received her bachelor’s of fine arts degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and holds a Ph.D. in Art Education from New York University.
