Ex-legislator nabbed, will face charges

Former Oneida County legislator Edward Revere was taken into custody in Georgia on two outstanding drunken driving charges. He is expected to be returned to County Court sometime in the next few weeks.

Revere, A Democrat, served on the Legislature in 1998 and 1999, representing District 16, and towns including New Hartford, Paris and Bridgewater. Following his term, Revere faced multiple drunken driving charges on both the local and county level.

According to court records, Revere was sentenced to probation after pleading guilty driving while intoxicated in County Court in 2005. Revere was then indicted again on a new DWI charges in 2008, but authorities said he never showed up for court. Warrants were issued for Revere for both his failure to appear and for violating his probation.

Authorities said Revere was finally found in the State of Georgia on July 16 by the U.S. Marshals. He has waived extradition and is expected to be returned to Oneida County to face his charges.
