Aces recorded on Turning Stone courses

VERNON — Randy Schwebe of Sherrill recorded a hole in one at the Pleasant Knolls golf course on Thursday, one day after George Abdoo of New Hartford had an ace on the Shenendoah course.

Schwebe aced the 166-yard No. 8 hole while using a 5-iron. The shot was witnessed by John Meyers.

Abdoo made his hole in one on the No. 17 192-yard hole with a 4-iron, and it was witnessed by Andrew Elio. The shot also earned Abdoo $10,000 as part of the New York Burglar Fire Alarm Association tournament.

Roller Derby doubleheader event on Saturday

Kennedy Arena will host a Central New York Roller Derby doubleheader on Saturday, with doors opening up at 4:30 p.m. and action starting at 5:30.

The night begins with the Quadfathers taking on the Mount Royals of Montreal before the CNYRD league Champions bout between The Blue Collar Betties (2-0) taking on the Rome Wreckers (1-1). The Wreckers recently beat last year’s champions, the Utica Clubbers, to advance to the championships.

Advance tickets can be purchased on the Web at: www.cnyrollerderby.com. Tickets at the door are priced at $10 and $5 for seniors. Kids 12-and-under are admitted free.

Second-chance drawing to meet Petty

VERNON — Turning Stone Resort Casino officials have announced that there will be a second-chance drawing for fans to attend a meet and greet with the former seven-time NASCAR champion Richard Petty. The second-chance drawing will be held on Thursday at Nye Automotive Group, 1479 Genesee St., in Oneida. Persons can enter the drawing between 11 a.m. and 6:45 p.m. The drawing takes place at 7 p.m. with 10 winners receiving two tickets each for the event to be held on Friday night at Turning Stone Resort Casino’s Showroom. Winners do not have to be present at the time of the drawing.
