Car hits, kills girl, 4

TOWN OF DeRUYTER — A 4-year-old girl was struck and killed by a motor vehicle in Madison County Friday after law enforcers said she ran out into the roadway.

Oneida-based state police said 4-year-old Martha F. Miller was crossing Dugway Road in front of her home at about 6 p.m. when she ran into the path of a northbound 2008 Toyota Avalon. Troopers said it appears that Miller did not see the car before she ran into the roadway.

No tickets or charges are expected to be filed against the driver, authorities said. The investigation is continuing.
