Free tour, preview at Capitol
The Capitol Theatre, 220 W. Dominick St., offers a tour of the historic 1928 building at 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 6.
The tour will be followed immediately by a preview of the movie festival Capitolfest. The guided tour will cover the bulk of the Capitol building, including the lobby, foyer, auditorium, backstage area, dressing rooms and projection booth. House organist John Paul will demonstrate how the Capitol’s Möller theatre organ operates. Capitol staff members and volunteers will conduct the tour. The entire tour and preview is expected to last approximately 90 minutes.
The Capitolfest preview will consist of short subjects to be shown as part of the Capitolfest film festival, scheduled for Aug. 10, 11 and 12. The movies will be projected onto the Capitol’s 20-foot high screen via 35mm prints.
