Man charged with disrupting funeral

A Utica man who was charged with disrupting a funeral with his loud and disorderly behavior was also found with synthetic marijuana, according to law enforcers.

Police said Brian Thompson, 45, of Chestnut Street, was yelling out incoherently during a funeral service at Holy Trinity Church on Lincoln Avenue at 6:26 p.m. Monday.

Police responded and Thompson appeared to be highly intoxicated. Police said he was found with a quantity of synthetic marijuana.

Thompson is charged with disturbing a religious service, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of synthetic drugs, police said. He is scheduled to appear in City Court.
