Taking Care aids Lewis County

TURIN — "Taking Care of Our Own’s" third annual Benefit Day scheduled to take place on Saturday at the Turin Fire Department.

This not-for-profit organization has allocated over $8,000 to residents of Lewis County to assist people as a result of a disaster or major medical condition.

Registration for the 5k Run/Walk sponsored by Toe Path Trekkers and the Motorcycle Ride organized by Lewis County ABATE will be from 7 to 9:30 a.m. The 5k foot race will begin at 8 a.m. A blessing of the bikes will be at 9:45 a.m., just before all kickstands go up at 10 a.m. The ride goes to West Leyden, Osceola, down Route 177 and then back to the Turin Fire Hall. There is a $25 registration fee to participate in the run or motorcycle ride. Fee includes entertainment throughout the day, an event T-shirt, and $5 on-site food voucher. Those without motorcycles can join the ride by following along in their vehicle for the same fee. Registrations forms are online at www.LCTakingCareOfOurOwn.com.

Food and drinks will be available as well as games and raffles all day. Crafters and vendors will be available from 9 a.m.-6 p.m. There will be DJ’s playing during the day. "Moonshiner" will perform from 8 p.m.-midnight. Admission is $5.
