‘Inner Music’ workshop Saturday
EARLVILLE — A new musical workshop — suitable for ages 16 and up — is being offered at the Earlville Opera House, East Main Street, at NYS Route 12B, on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.
Todd Rogers will teach "Expressing Your Inner Music: Celebrating and Supporting Creativity Through Sound." Cost for the workshop is $20 or $18 for EOH members. Scholarship help is available. To register, call the Earlville Opera House at 691-3550 or e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Rogers is a violinist who plays locally with several collaborators. He is training under Grammy-Award winning cellist, David Darling at Music for People in improvisation facilitation and is dedicated to supporting others in finding and expressing their inner music.
Rogers explains, "It’s about becoming more comfortable with your playing and freeing yourself up to enjoy a more relaxed quality to your playing. Uniquely suited to all levels of musical ability, the day will consist of structured activities that allow us to improvise music and sound that comes from the heart."
"While the workshop includes instruction, the emphasis is on playing music together. The event emphasizes connection with the body, incorporating movement and breathing. It’s a time devoted to having fun," he says.
