Lee Soccer Club battles to tie

LEE CENTER — Lee Soccer Club’s Rick Loreto scored a goal off of a header with seconds remaining in the first half off a cross from Scott Markgraf to give Lee Soccer Club a 1-1 tie with Kraijsnik Soccer Club of Utica Monday night in a Central New York State Soccer League B Division game.

The game was called before the start of the second half due to a lightning storm that ripped through the Town of Lee. League rules state that when half a game is completed, it stands as an official game so the 1-1 score held up. Lee goal tender Brad Waters made five saves to help Lee improve to 8-2-3 overall and remain in first place with one game left in the regular season.

Lee has now gone eight games without a loss and has tied their last three contests. Lee travels to Utica to play Coliseum Thursday for a 8:15 p.m. start at Proctor Park.
