Foundation serves us well
Investing monetary resources for the present and future enrichment of the area has been the mission of the Rome Community Foundation since it began in 1999.
Among the institutions and organizations that have received financial assistance from the foundation are the Rome Art and Community Center, Humane Society of Rome, Capitol Theatre, Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc., Jervis Public Library, Rome Sports Hall of Fame, Rome Cemetery Association, Rome Historical Society, Habitat for Humanity, Rome Baseball Association, United Cerebral Palsy, and Rome Main Street Alliance.
Most recently, the Capitol received $6,680 to purchase a theater quality projector and laptop computer. This will enable them to present a variety of media, including slides and DVDs, on the large theater screen. Also, the foundation, through its Stevens Kingsley Fund, is a partner in the new Rome Futures Academy to help incoming ninth-graders prepare for success in Rome schools on their way to college readiness.
Income from professionally managed investments is used to benefit the people and charities in the Rome area. Meeting charitable needs in the Rome community is the responsibility of the foundation’s board of directors, the members of which are elected from the Rome community. Decisions for grants are made locally, focusing on the particular and unique needs of the area.
Rome Community Foundation adds value to our community by meeting its mission of caring to the community needs and serving as a vital partner with the organizations it serves.
